Golf Swing Lag Video: Before and after analysis of Lucas Wald student Madison

Rating: 0

This video shows step-by-step the critical changes Lucas made in Madison’s swing over a six month period. In the “after” video (on the right), we can see that Madison has a better move off the ball into the right leg, added a nice dual ER “squat” during transition, now has a much stronger “right elbow move”, and retains her lag deep into the downswing so, combined with a stronger grip, she can release powerfully without flipping. Lucas is a student and certified instructor of Kelvin Miyahira.

By making a level hip and shoulder turn at the top of your swing and eliminating it at the bottom you can ensure to get the most power out of your swing path. By making sure your hips bump into your forward foot and changing your center of gravity, this will cause the club to lag and create a whip-like motion.

Golf Swing Lag Video: Golf Lesson – Swinging on plane – JK

Rating: 0

In this golf lesson, you will see a variety of different camera angles. I have found it very important to zoom into certain areas of the body in order to see how the golf swing is working. With this particular student, we have already worked on improving his set-up and swing plane to the top of his swing. At the time of this golf lesson, we were focused more on how he is going to transition the club into the down swing. Good club head lag will be important in order to get solid compression on the ball. Practicing a slight pause at the top will allow for a smooth transition, better tempo and better club position coming down. It’s going to be important for the club to drop into a good position to hit the plane line while returning back to impact. If the down swing is rushed, the odds are good the club will swing over-the-top. When the transition to the downswing is smooth, the student will find that the club will be in a better position and therefore have a much better chance of the middle of the club striking and compressing the middle of the golf ball. For more information on getting the club into a good position when you start down, continue watching Grexa Golf Instruction, or contact me at Wildwood Green Golf Club. I would be honored to help you with your game! Greg Greksa PGA Senior Instructor Callaway Advisory Staff
